DANSES MACABRES

The Danses Macabres collective screendance project was initiated by the Centre de Vidéo Danse de Bourgogne for the 8th edition of its festival in 2016. The festival was dedicated to the theme of death. It consists of five collective films, composed of 4 segments each, set to the music of Liszt's Totentanz. Each segment was filmed by a different screendance artist - all in all, 20 different artists, from various countries, participated in the project. The artists were each given a portion of the Totentanz which they were asked to use for their film. They were given total freedom for their creation, but had to stick to the theme of the Danses Macabres and use black and white for their film.

SENSIBILE AL MOVIMENTO

Works by artists who responded to [SET.mefree] International Call for Screendance

Using the MUSIC VIDEO/VIDEOCLIP as a point of departure, we posed the question

“how dance could be promoted on the screen?”.
